You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.
Les Brown
Two years ago, I gave a presentation on the stages of change that is required to accomplish a goal. The presentation was a part of a teaching exercise I had to do as part of my training to teach in a tertiary education institute.
It was a terrible presentation mainly because the audience was an older set of teachers who had no interest in the new teacher’s training and who had long ago given up on goals and dreams.
But, I did not have to look too far from home to get evidence that older persons can always dream a new dream. My mother, after beating breast cancer at age 63, went on to record her original songs in two CDs and promote them. My father, at the age of 73, wrote his first novel.
As we move into a new month and a new year, you can rekindle your hope with new dreams. Maybe you have accomplished old ones or maybe you have given up on goals no longer relevant to your life or your stage of life. That’s okay. You can dream a new dream.
